Bharatpur Metropolitan City of Nepal and Chongqing Municipal of the People’s Republic of
China concluded a Friendly cooperation and cooperative relationship Agreement on 22 May
2024 amidst the ceremony held during the international friendly city’s cooperation conference
organized at Chongqing Municipal. A nine-membered delegation led by Mayor of the Bharatpur
Metropolitan City Ms. Renu Dahal, which is on Chongqing visit from 20-27 May, participated in
the signing ceremony and signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Consul General Mr. Suresh Raut from the Consulate General of Nepal, Chengdu which
jurisdiction covers Chongqing Municipal, was also present at the event. By forging a friendly
and cooperative relationship agreement both the Bharatpur and Chongqing expects to promote
exchanges and cooperation in the areas of Agriculture, ICT, Tourism, social development, trade
and investment among others. Mayor of the Bharatpur Metropolitan City also held a friendly
bilateral meeting with the chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of
Chongqing Ms. Cheng Lihua on 23 May 2024. The meeting covered the several potential areas
of cooperation between the two cities.
Delegation from the Bharatpur Metropolitan City and officials from the Consulate General,
Chengdu also participated in the Opening ceremony of Sixth Western China International Fair
for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) and International Food Festival-2024. Nepali Tea stalls
have been set up at the venue of food festival and WCIFIT international Pavilion with the
support from the Consulate General, Chengdu with the objectives of promoting Nepali tea in
China.
